Prof. Jon Olav Drogset is Chair at the Institute of Orthopedics and Rheumatology at the Medical Faculty of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Prof. Drogset is also an orthopedic surgeon at the Section for Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Trondheim University Hospital in Norway.
He has US high school diploma from Wilmington High School, Wilmington Delaware, USA, in 1977. He graduated from the medical school at the University of Oslo in 1985 after premedicine in Bochum, Germany.
He is a specialist in general surgery from 1995, sports medicine from 1995 and orthopedic surgery from 1998. His thesis was on results after surgical treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2006.
His main research interests are knee injuries with several publications on ACL injuries and cartilage repair. Prof. Drogset is the former President of the Norwegian Arthroscopy Association, the Norwegian Association of Sports Medicine, Scandinavian Foundation of Medicine and Science in Sports and the Norwegian Orthopedic Association.
Prof. Drogset is also a member of the ACL Study Group and he is the Team Doctor for Rosenborg FC. He was awarded the KSSTA Best Reviewer in 2016. He is a member of ESSKA and a member of the upcoming ethical committee in ESSKA.
Prof. Drogset is the Scientific President of the Centennial Congress of the Nordic Orthopedic Federation in Trondheim, Norway, scheduled for 2020.
