Prof. João Espregueira-Mendes completed his residency in Orthopaedic and Traumatology Surgery in 1994. He had the degree as Professor from Porto University and was the youngest PhD in Orthopaedics in Portugal. He did a scholarship in Orthopaedics at the Mayo Clinic in 1991.
Currently, he is the Medical Director of Clínica do Dragão – Espregueira-Mendes Sports Centre – FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence which is also an ESSKA and ISAKOS Official Centre.
He teaches at the Universities of Minho and Porto where is Chairman of Orthopaedics and Muscleskeleton System, he is responsible for postgraduate courses in Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine and Founder of Dom Henrique Research Centre. From 1998 to 2006 – 1st Director of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at São Sebastião Hospital; from 2004 to 2008 – President of the Portuguese Society of Arthroscopy and Traumatology (SPAT); from 2012 to 2014 – President of the European Society of Knee Surgery, Sports Trauma and Arthroscopy (ESSKA). At the moment, he is Chairman of Clínica do Dragão – Espregueira-Mendes Sports Centre, FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence; Chairman and Professor of the Orthopaedic Department of Minho University; Treasurer and Chairman of the Publications Committee of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS); Board Member of the Patellofemoral Foundation; Board Member of FIFA MCE; Professor of Porto University – Co-Chairman of the Post-graduate in Sports Medicine and 3B’s/ICVS Senior Researcher – Minho University; President of the ESSKA Foundation in Luxembourg – Founding President and Chairman of Dom Henrique Research Centre – Porto.
His numerous articles in the area of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine are primarily associated with anterior cruciate ligament injuries, imaging evaluation (ligaments and patellofemoral) and rehabilitation. He is presently involved in tissue engineering projects involving ligament and cartilage stem cells.
His primary interest is in the treatment of knee, ligaments, cartilage and patella instability. He also invented the Porto Knee Testing Device (and Patella Testing Device) to measure the injury of knee ligaments in the MRI and it is already used on the 5 continents, the cartilage graft (Porto GUT) and the artificial meniscus – Porto meniscus (in partnership with 3B’s).
In 1980, Prof. Denti received his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan.
He completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the Istituto Ortopedico Matteo Rota in Bergamo and at the 2rd Orthopaedic Dpt. Of the University of Milan, San Gerardo Hospital Monza and degreed in Orthopaedic in 1985.
From December 1985 to May 1996, he served as an assistant and then Vice-Chairman at the 2nd Orthopaedic Dpt. of the University of Milan, San Gerardo Hospital, Monza with special interest in knee and shoulder surgery and arthroscopy.

Prof. Denti specialises in disorders of the shoulder and knee, including those treated with open and arthroscopic surgery.
Prof. Denti has lectured more then 300 scientific papers at medical congresses in Europe and USA.
He has also served as the orthopaedic consultant for the Italian Ski Federation, Asystel Milan Volleyball Team (1st League), Oregon Cantù Basketball Team (1st League) and Como Football Team (1st League).
Prof. Denti is author of 124 scientific papers published in Italian and international orthopaedic journals
Prof. Denti presented more than 500 papers at national and international congress (Europe, USA, Canada, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Middle East).
Prof. Seil trained in Belgium, Germany and USA. He wrote his doctoral thesis on meniscal repair in 2001 and his professorial thesis on pediatric anterior cruciate ligament injuries in 2003. He was appointed extraordinary professor in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Saarland in 2007. Prof. Seil has been working as an orthopaedic surgeon at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg from 2004. His main areas of clinical and scientific activity are orthopaedic sports medicine as well as primary and revision knee arthroplasty.
Prof. Seil is co-director in Luxembourg of the IOC Research Centre for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health Network. He is co-founder of the ESSKA Pediatric ACL registry (PAMI) and has been appointed to the scientific board of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, Bologna, Italy. He received several awards for his scientific work, co-edited several books, (co-)authored several hundred peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Prof. Seil is a founding member of the Journal of Experimental Orthopaedics. He is co-editor of the journals “Arthroskopie” and Sports Orthopaedics and Traumatology as well as editorial board member and reviewer of several scientific journals in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine.
Prof. Seil is a member and honorary member of many national and international societies. He is past president of ESSKA, president of the ESSKA Foundation, the German-speaking Society in Orthopaedic and Traumatologic Sports Medicine (GOTS) and the Luxembourg Institute for Research in Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine and Science (LIROMS).
He is a board member of the Sports Medicine Society in Luxembourg and the newly founded Luxembourg Institute of High Performance in Sports (LIHPS).
He was an ESSKA-AOSSM travelling fellow in 2001 and godfather in 2019.
From 2003 until 2005, he was chairman of the arthroscopy committee of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS).
